Quantity Surveyor

Last Modified: August 10, 2026

West of Scotland with travel | Great career opportunity | truly negotiable salary

Construction blueprint with yellow safety helmet and pencil on white background.

I am retained by a fast-growing, ambitious contractor working across specialist installations, refurbishment and joinery projects, looking for a qualified Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of commercial performance across live contracts.

This is a role for someone who wants to be close to the numbers and close to the decisions: pricing tenders, managing live contracts, and helping shape how the business prices and delivers its work. You’ll work directly with the management team, with genuine input into commercial decisions rather than reporting up through layers of a larger structure.

You’ll be involved from early pricing through to final account, covering fit-out, joinery and specialist packages that need careful measurement and costing rather than broad estimates.

Day to day, you will:

  • Prepare tender pricing, bills of quantities and commercial submissions
  • Manage costs, budgets, valuations and variations across live contracts
  • Prepare monthly CVRs and cash-flow forecasts
  • Price and negotiate variations and compensation events
  • Build up labour rates and resource-based pricing
  • Administer contracts under NEC and SBCC forms
  • Prepare progress payment applications and commercial reporting

I’m interested in people who:

  • Are a qualified Quantity Surveyor with solid commercial experience in construction.
  • Have costed packages involving joinery, M&E, plumbing, or electrical works
  • Come from housebuilding, public buildings, or specialist subcontracting backgrounds rather than large civil engineering or infrastructure contractors
  • Are confident administering NEC or SBCC contracts
  • Enjoy working closely with a management team, with real input into commercial decisions
  • Want more influence and responsibility than is often possible in a larger, more structured organisation

I’m open-minded about your exact background. What matters most is that you bring solid QS skills, sound judgement, and an interest in helping a growing business get its pricing and margins right.

Salary will reflect your experience and the contribution you can make.

If you’d like to have more impact and be part of a team where your commercial insight really matters, we’d be pleased to hear from you.
